SUMMER CAMP
2017

Harding Township Day Camp is your place for summer fun! We want to provide campers with a positive summer camping experience with a variety of activities that emphasize fun, relaxation, and exploration.

Preference is given to Harding Township residents. There are a limited number of openings for non–residents which will be processed as they are received.

FACILITIES

The camp is located at the Harding Township School. K–6 campers will be transported to Ginty Pool in Morristown for swimming lessons.

STAFF

Camp staff is composed of elementary school teachers, college students and high school students.

We are always looking for bright, enthusiastic and creative people to become Harding Day Camp counselors or counselors–in–training (CITs)! See below for details. Apply early; spaces are limited!

CLOTHING AND POSSESSIONS

Please label all clothing and towels — it will help us identify lost articles.

Please do not bring anything valuable to camp. We are not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.

DROP OFF AND PICK–UP

Drop off and pick–up will be on the elementary circle.

We ask that when dropping off your children you refrain from loitering and having conversations with other parents in their cars. If you need to speak with someone, please park your car in the parking lot.

CAMPERS

PRE-K

The Polliwog program is highly structured, well supervised, and lots of fun! Three– and four–year olds will be in separate groups. A mid–morning snack is provided.

Full–day Polliwogs will follow the regular morning schedule, then stay for lunch (brought from home), a quiet rest time, and free play time.

CAMP HOURS

Weekdays 9am–12pm; full–day Polliwogs stay until 3pm.

ELIGIBILITY

Ages 3 and 4. Campers must be age 3 by June 15, 2017. Toilet trained preferred. Please note that counselors are not responsible for changing diapers.

Half Day:Harding residents $195, non–residents $215
Full Day:Harding residents $295, non–residents $325 *
* Week 2 is only 4 days. Cost: $245 for residents, $275 for non-residents.

PACKING LUNCH

If your camper is bringing lunch, please note that no refrigeration is available. Don't pack anything that will spoil!

GRADES K–6

Lots of engaging activities are packed into every day of camp, including all sorts of sports and games, weaving and wood crafting, dancing and acting, and even computing. And there are always special events on Thursdays — something fun and completely different!

Campers will be grouped by grade level for all activities.

LUNCH AND SNACKS

Except for special lunch days, campers must provide their own lunch and mid–morning snack. Please send a healthy snack and drink.

No refrigeration is available, so be sure not to pack anything that will spoil!

CITs

COUNSELORS IN TRAINING

Our insurance policy covers CITs as campers. Register your child online — just like a camper, but the weekly cost will be only $40.

We will only have 12 CITs each week. If your preferred week is full, contact us to be put on a waiting list.

We require three letters of recommendation.

Please have them completed by teachers, coaches, church leaders, or employers, but not babysitting clients! Recommendations from family or friends will not be accepted.

Summer is just around the corner and plans are underway for another exciting season at the HTRA Day Camp!

We are expecting a large number of applicants again this year; make sure to get applications in early. Preference will be given to those applicants who have worked at camp in the past.

CAMP ACTIVITIES

ARTS AND CRAFTS

A variety of arts and crafts activities will be offered. Some favorites: tie–dyeing, plaster molding, leather lacing, weaving, metal tooling, string art, sand painting, macramé and wood crafting.

SPORTS

Campers will have an opportunity to participate in various sports activities such as soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, kickball, 4–squares, ultimate Frisbee, and capture the flag.

ENRICHMENT

Campers will participate in many cooperative learning activities. They will act out stories and plays, encounter problem solving scenarios, and participate in team building activities.

PLAYGROUND AND CAMP CRAFTS

Campers will participate in outdoor and playground activities.

COMPUTERS

Campers will have an opportunity to work in the computer lab on available programs.

SWIMMING

Campers will be transported to Ginty Pool in Morris Township to swim twice a week. No extra charge. Campers will be notified which days they will attend the pool, and they will be chaperoned by counselors. The pool is fully equipped with lifeguards and pool manager.
